Monica on Mission
Call: As I started serving with SOS Kids on a mission trip to Rwanda in 2018, I believe God allowed my heart to connect with a young boy named Emmanuel, who lived in the area. Seeing him hanging on every word being preached, even amid opposition from friends, awakened a desire in my heart to continue to see that genuine hunger for God and the growth/discipleship that happens after that. I saw a beautiful glimpse of that in later mission trips and began to yearn to personally be a part of that discipleship in a child’s life. In late 2023, I started moving forward with the opportunity to become a missionary with SOS Adventure and later relocate to Kilgoris, Kenya in 2025.
On Mission: In 2019, I began serving under the SOS Kids director from home through interviewing and assisting in training team members who were to be on mission trips as a part of SOS Kids. When on the field, I have filled in the role of coordinating the SOS Kids’ deliverance team and assisting the SOS Kids director in training local Sunday school teachers.
In training local Sunday school teachers, SOS Kids gets to empower and link arms with local Sunday school leaders to effectively teach, connect with, and minister to children. As a result, it is a joy to see these Sunday school teachers become more effective with the children already in their churches and more intentionally engaging with those living in their neighborhoods, playing on the streets, in orphanages, etc. When a child feels seen by a Sunday school leader who truly cares for them and desires to lead them toward Jesus, it makes a vast difference in their lives. Suddenly, the child who is orphaned, has been abused, or is working to support their family has a new hope and outlook in life that is only found in Jesus!
Past: For the last year and a half, I managed a Waffle House restaurant in Dacula, Georgia and have continued serving as a part of the leadership & small group team at Victory Hamilton Mill’s young adults group.
Rewards: Seeing people, especially children and new believers, grow in their relationship with Jesus and develop a better understanding of the Bible. Seeing people actively and eagerly engaging with God. Answering questions children or new believers may have about faith or the Bible.
Becoming a partner: You are vital to what makes ministry happen at SOS Adventure. Your fervent prayers, encouragement, and sacrificial giving drive the ministry forward. I can not do what God has called me to do without you.

Based in Buford, Georgia, SOS Adventure is a Christian organization that mobilizes people for a short-term mission experience that allows them to help transform cities with the love of Jesus and the proclamation of the Gospel.
The short-term teams serve evangelistic roles supporting kids and street ministry efforts, compassion ministry, and mega festivals. SOS Adventure festivals draw tens of thousands over five days, with thousands professing faith in Jesus. Teams combine local church volunteers with missionaries from the US and Europe. All return home changed and energized to make a difference in their community and world.
