The Lord loves every one of our guests. It is wonderful to see a person put their problems in His hands. They have a hope that wasn’t there before. They even look different and act different, knowing they are going to be all right.
For example, if you met James today, you would never know how much a simple bike changed his life. “After getting out of jail, having a bike allowed me the opportunity to get to work and save money for a car,” he says. “That job allowed me to earn money for a different life. Within a year, I owned my own company!”
James has a new life, and a new career, but he never forgets how he once lived. He remembers the people who cared for him when he was homeless and struggling to survive. Today, he partners with Open Door Mission to fix bikes for guests who need a way to get to work or school. “I know that to the men and women seeking shelter at Open Door Mission, a bike is not just a bike. It’s a tool to get to the next level,” he explains.
You, together with staff and volunteers, help men and women receive the resources they need to begin new lives. But there are still so many more in need of help.
No one is beyond help. And no matter what they have done, we see the Lord embracing them, forgiving them and giving them a new start. This begins with a meal and a bed you provide. Thank you!
