Why is Jesus called Immanuel?

Why is Jesus called Immanuel?

One night, in a small, out-of-the-way village, the Son of God stepped out of heaven and into the world. The Creator God came to dwell with us

His birth as a human at Christmas was the greatest gift ever given to you, and his life and ultimate sacrifice are the incredible reason we celebrate the season.

In her latest Advent devotional, Janet Denison offers 25 days on The Gift of Immanuel.

Each short day’s reading focuses on a key Bible verse and offers Janet’s biblical insight and encouragement toward living a life that follows God.

Since these devotionals are perennially popular, request your copy today of The Gift of Immanuel: A 25-Day Advent Devotional.

Here’s a short excerpt from the introduction to The Gift of Immanuel:

Why did Mary and Joseph name their son Jesus instead of Immanuel?

In Scripture, Jesus is given many names, each meant to describe his character. He is called King of kings and Lord of lords. He is called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Prince of Peace. The name Jesus means savior.

All of those names are encompassed by the name God revealed to Isaiah. Immanuel means “God with us.”

Jesus was and remains God incarnate.

The Gift of Immanuel can serve as a daily reminder of the highest purpose for our holiday season. Jesus, Immanuel, was born so that we could live now and eternally with God.”

May The Gift of Immanuel bless and fill your Christmas season with the truth about Jesus as revealed in God’s word.

Jesus stepped into the world to spend time, and time eternal, with you.

This Advent season, may you enjoy spending time each day with Immanuel.
