In 1874, Thomas Gabriel reached out for support in bringing the gospel to his people in Eastern India. This invitation was the catalyst for John and Mary McLaurin to take action, go to Kakinada, and lay the foundation for what would become Canadian Baptist Ministries. 

150 years later in February 2024, 150,000 Soura Christ followers gathered in India to mark the anniversary of Thomas’ invitation and the McLaurin’s response. That’s 150,000 Christians proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel today because of the faithful obedience of Canadian Baptists so long ago. 


I can’t help but marvel at the legacy of that first invitation and the story that has unfolded from that first faithful response. 

CBM continues to respond to invitations to partner with the global Church. From our historic work in India and Bolivia, God continues to lead us into new places like Togo, Egypt, and Kazakhstan. The gifts from faithful supporters like you today will ensure we are able to respond to invitations with long-term solutions and resources for the next 150 years and beyond. 

There are so many ways your generosity helps – training pastors, providing safe places for children to learn, addressing hunger, peacebuilding, and responding in times of crisis amongst other initiatives.
